Amy Daniels, representing PfP Students, is a nominee for the Smart Leader of the Year award, a category that recognizes individuals demonstrating visionary leadership in shaping a sustainable future through innovation and collaboration. Since taking ownership of the Kx platform on March 5, 2026, Daniels has transitioned from a non-technical background into a pivotal product-focused role, largely driven by her ability to bridge the gap between complex digital platforms, day-to-day operations, and the student experience. Her leadership journey was accelerated when she assumed control of the live Kx system with no formal handover, necessitating a rapid development of SQL data interrogation skills and deep configuration expertise. This hands-on approach shifted the focus from pure technology to practical usability, ensuring that systems simplify processes and deliver real value to site teams.
In the short term, Daniels has prioritized the stabilization and standardization of the Kx platform to consistently support operational teams. This involved establishing clear governance, such as routing all issues through a Service Desk to improve visibility and response times. Her impact is evidenced by the resolution of critical configuration issues, such as restoring automated invoicing that had previously hindered student payments, and implementing self-service features to reduce friction for users. Beyond technical fixes, she has fostered cross-sector collaboration by introducing stakeholder forums and user groups that bring together sales, IT, and technology partners like Kinetic to ensure frontline feedback informs system roadmaps. Within just eight months, these initiatives led to the formal creation of a dedicated product role and external recognition through the Kx Community Award.
Looking toward the future, the long-term objective is to evolve the platform from an operational tool into a strategic product that supports PfP Students’ growth plans and enhances the student living experience. This vision includes embedding scalable onboarding processes, improving data visibility to generate meaningful insights for decision-making, and addressing legacy data issues to maintain system integrity. Daniels is also leading a research and discovery phase into the ethical application of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, for predictive maintenance and behavioral insights. By maintaining a focus on evidence-based innovation rather than adopting technology for its own sake, she aims to ensure that digital transformation remains practical, sustainable, and centered on improving outcomes for both the students and the teams who support them.
