The Best in Class Awards were established in 2016 to celebrate, recognise, and promote organisations and initiatives at the forefront of student and shared living, working, and learning. We strongly encourage everyone who is passionate about student and shared living to apply so that your achievements may be recognised and celebrated within our industry.The winners will be announced at a ceremony to take place in Madrid and online on the evening of November 16th. Finalists will have the opportunity to register tickets to our invite-only Partners Dinner, where the ceremony will be hosted.

Best Student Housing Design

An award recognizing ground-breaking student housing design with a clear understanding of function, form, and spirit. This category can relate to variety of areas such as the entire property, interior, a specific area, and/or landscaping. We’re looking for those spaces that have been meticulously thought out to match student resident needs.

An award recognizing shared living developments that have successfully created the ultimate space and place for a variety of tenants and activities. As concluded at our previous conference, The Future is Blended! Especially now with covid-19, we’ve seen a rapid increase in mixed-use developments that combine places to work, learn, and live. Examples of blends we’ve observed include coworking, coliving, student living, senior living, retail, micro-living, short/long stay. We’re eager to hear your blend! The development needs to have been launched between November 2021-2022.

At The Class Foundation, we believe every student should have and be able to have access to a place to call home. This means, our community needs to work together to offer a variety of housing solutions and price offerings. With this award, we want to spotlight initiatives that positively impact student housing affordability, i.e., research projects, pilots, policy changes, scholarships, grants etc.

finalists announced

The Class Foundation team will create a shortlist of finalists per category... then the rest is up to the jury panel and online voting! Finalists will be asked to produce a 2-min video for our annual Trend Report, which will bring their submission to life. Winners' videos will also be shown during the Best in Class Awards Ceremony in Madrid and online.

Similar to our previous editions, we will be implementing online voting on LinkedIn so your networks can rally behind you. In the meantime, the jury panel is also assessing your submissions.

The Class Foundation will tally the online votes and jury scores to identify the winners per category.

The winners will be announced on the first evening of The Class Conference '22 in Madrid and online. The Class Partners Dinner will feature the ceremony in a hybrid format, as we hope to welcome some of you to Madrid but cannot accommodate your whole team in-person. The ceremony livestream will be made available for everyone.

Finalist selection

The finalists are chosen by The Class Foundation. Two team members assess the applications separately and then compare scores to select the finalists.

Stage 2
jury assessment

The finalists' applications are sent to the jury separately. The Class Foundation then tallies their scores and weighs it for 85% of the total assessment.

stage 3
online voting

We will implement online voting to get our community engaged, excited, and inspired by the finalists. This weighs for 15% of the total assessment.
